Streamlining workflows, reducing process times

Automating print production, reducing operator intervention

“Having previously installed a Kongsberg cutting table at the heart of production for the large formats we print, we implemented Automation Engine to further support the development of our customer service,” said Mr Asnar.

Automation Engine is Esko’s workflow server which not only automates print production tasks but also integrates business systems. This both serves to speed up the process and more importantly reduces the error rate, removing the need for operator intervention.

The only workflow solution that automates the requirements of different printing techniques, Automation Engine means that only one production file containing the parameters for digital, flexo and offset printing is required for combination print jobs.

“Following the installation, our teams received comprehensive detailed training from the expert Esko teams,” said Mr Asnar. “We already have four business engineers using the Automation Engine solution.”

Increased throughput and efficiency, greater customer satisfaction

Since introducing Automation Engine to its system, Ateliers Cassandre has significantly streamlined its workflow and is now able to process job requests in less than five minutes.

“All our customers’ files are processed according to the rules we have defined, while human errors have been reduced by 30%,” said Mr. Asnar. “These errors were mainly related to file verification, for example, just one inch of an image needs to be pixelated but was invisible to the naked eye, now gets identified.”

“The speed of Automation Engine allows us to both go into production faster with verified files and quickly inform our customers of the precise details of any anomalies that may be present. Today, 95% of the files we process are validated by Automation Engine, the other 5% are automatically rejected and returned to the clients to make the necessary changes.

“This means that with Automation Engine, we are processing 100% of orders in record time,” said Mr Asnar. “Our customers place orders and upload their production files onto our system. Automation Engine retrieves all the files that need to be processed in 30 seconds, validates them, and sends them directly to the working table.”

“This huge boost in efficiency is allowing our business engineers to focus on developing the customer portfolio and importantly support the relationship with existing clients,” he said. “The improvements are across the board, with increased efficiency, throughput and productivity combined with reduced errors and an even greater level of customer satisfaction.”

Following the successful introduction of Automation Engine to its workflow processes, Ateliers Cassandre aims to provide the five members of the technical team with the solution in the future, to complete the digitization process and to automate all workflows.
