Products are packaged to protect them during transport and storage. Gradually, however, packaging became an important marketing tool. Brands are fighting for customer attention and attractive packaging is an essential factor in that fight.
Some materials used in flexible packaging are a challenge to print on. That’s where flexographic printing has an advantage. Flexographic inks (unlike those used in lithography) generally have a low viscosity. This enables faster drying and, as a result, faster production, which results in lower costs.
Flexo excels at printing on a range of flexible materials: plastic, foil, acetate film, brown paper, and other materials typically used in flexible packaging. That means that to print packaging like shopping bags, food bags, hygiene bags, sacks, milk and beverage cartons, flexible plastics, self adhesive labels, disposable cups and containers… flexo is the first choice.
Because the flexographic process can be used to print on such a range of materials, it ranks as the best and most versatile graphic arts reproduction process for package printing. The list of packaging applications is endless.

HD Flexo is the next steps in high quality flexo printing. HD Flexo is a new process for making digital flexographic (flexo) plates. The improved plates are higher quality and print more consistently than standard digital flexo plates. HD Flexo may be implemented without scrapping existing equipment and working methods.
The quality of offset and gravure printing has always been somewhat of a Holy Grail for flexo. But, with HD Flexo, the gap is closed. Bringing consistency, vibrant colors and increased print quality, HD Flexo raises the industry standard in flexo packaging printing.
Flexo printing can now compete with offset for quality labels and with gravure printing for flexible packaging. In addition, digital plate exposure ensures greater consistency in plate production and in printing.
