With the acquisition of the Kongsberg C64, Renk Tabela Reklam completed a series of investments in the latest technology in the sign and digital printing industry.
Ali Usul, General Manager of Renk Tabela, says: “The Esko Kongsberg C64 has virtually brought us to a new level. We are now able to cut much more precisely and much cleaner.”
Renk Tabela Reklam, one of the leading advertising and sign companies in the region of Konya, selected the Kongsberg C64 cutting table, in order to keep up with the company’s latest model UV injection printers. It is capable of finishing the widest range of materials with the greatest speed and precision. The Kongsberg C64 provides fast and high-quality finishing on a wide range of print jobs, including sign manufacturing and packaging, with its multi-directional and fast cutting features.
Renk Tabela, now a family business, was founded by Ömer Usul 45 years ago as a private company. In 2006 it was transformed into a limited liability company by the second generation: Ali Usul, Adem Usul, and Haydar Usul.
CEO Ali Usul summarizes the history of the company:
“Our company, Renk Tabela Reklam, was founded as a family business by our father Ömer Usul 45 years ago. Our sign and advertising shop started production in 1990, when paint and brush met technology, and plotter devices entered the industry. Our first large machine was the HP Scitex XL1500. Before that, we used the print and cut machines and machines in HP’s Designjet 5000 series. Then we moved forward with large format and solvent based printing presses. The introduction of UV technology made it possible to print directly onto the material and we started to focus on this. In 2009 we purchased an Agfa UV printing machine with a width of 2.5m from a Belgian company. We expanded our business by printing directly on materials such as photoblock, glass, paper, cardboard, PVC foam board, and acrylic. Around 2012 we purchased a 3.2 m wide HP LX800 latex printer. We preferred the HP Scitex because it was fast, and it offered a high-quality solution for intermediary coating and similar printing jobs. And also because it was environmentally friendly.”
At the time these investments were made, Renk Tabela was performing its cutting work with router devices or by hand. Because of increasing production volumes with faster printers, finishing became more important.
Ali Usul explains how his search for an investment lead to an Esko Kongsberg cutting table: “The router was not suitable for material cutting or could damage the material, and cutting by hand was slowing down the process. We were able to handle smaller projects with print and cut machines. Many years ago, we focused on two brands and we set our targets two years ago. We then decided to invest in Esko equipment. We finalized the negotiations at an exhibition in Germany, and placed the order for the Esko Kongsberg C64 six months later. Right before the Esko Kongsberg C64 we had ordered an Efi Vutek GS3250Lx Pro. It was the latest technology in LED UV printing available at the time. As soon as that machine arrived, we realized that digital cutting is a must."
"Currently, our Esko Kongsberg table, 321 x 320cm in size, is the largest in Turkey. We also purchased all the necessary accessories for the machine in order to cut all materials, including mechanical conveyors, PVC foam board, fabric, sponge, PVC, vinyl, Re-board®, cardboard, and corrugated boards. We can manufacture many products, including entire exhibition stands. The Esko Kongsberg C64 currently performs the work of ten people. Besides, it produces a more precise, steady and professional standard of work."
Mr. Usul continues: "The Esko Kongsberg C64 has lifted our company to a higher level. We are now able to cut much more precisely and much cleaner. And this makes us happy. We will continue to invest in new equipment in order to improve our operations."
"I visit all industry exhibitions worldwide. And I noticed that pre-eminent companies all over the world select Esko as their preferred brand. I thought: “They cannot all be wrong”. Besides that, Esko’s software is very good. It is exactly the software we need in the sign and digital printing industry. Moreover, the Esko Kongsberg is a durable machine that will last us a lifetime. We purchased the latest version of the software and all the available cutting equipment. Esko Turkey supported us in every way to bring this machine to Konya, and we appreciate this.” The installation of the Esko Kongsberg C64 was performed by Yatay Bilgisayar.
Renk Tabela continues its activities in conventional advertisement, such as pylon signs (with and without back-lighting), facade signs, box letters, traffic signs and billboards, and will continue to invest in new equipment in this industry. Robot welding machines and router cutting machines are specified in this chapter. “Our company has a wide range of digital printers, including textile printing and LED UV printing equipment, and provides services tailored to the needs of the retail market. We have compiled an extensive customer portfolio in the 45 years since our business was established. It offers solutions for a wide variety of products, such as promotional materials, exhibition stands, flags, cards, billboards, posters, intermediary coatings and so on.”

Ali Usul, stating that they did not need to heavily promote their new Esko Kongsberg C64 because of the big share of work they already have in the sign industry, continues: “There was, for example, an order for promotional materials for a customer in the shoe business. We made sample boxes, souvenirs and promotion samples. With the new Kongsberg C, it is possible to produce large format exhibition banners for short-run agency work. We offer solutions to printing houses for difficult cutting work in small volumes. We did not need any marketing campaigns or to look for new business because we had already accumulated so many loyal customers over the years. We have always been a preferred company because we provide our customers with high-quality solutions with a fast turn-around rate. We are not competition-oriented, but prefer to be quality-oriented instead. We were the first company to bring new machines for the sign and digital printing industry to Konya, and both we and our customers benefit from these investments.”
Ali Usul, when speaking about Renk Tabela Reklam’s prospective projects, states that investments in digital equipment are completed for now. They will focus on marketing instead in order to use their current capacity to its full extent. “We are thinking of investing in lasers and five axis benches, which will reduce our workforce, reduce flaws and achieve precision production in the metals category. We have completed our machinery investments in the digital segment for the time being. We need to determine a marketing strategy and form a dealership network. We can share our capacity and technology with enterprises who will act as solution partners to us on the basis of principles such as franchising, dealership or labor contracts.”
Renk Tabela Reklam also serves advertising sign manufacturers in the Balkan and Arabic states: “These customers import our services when there is a lack of technology and capacity in their own countries,” Mr. Usul concludes.
