The challenge

Automation to the next level

Data Image Group sees automation as the corner stone to ensure that cutting keeps pace with its ever accelerating print capability.

In order to take automation to the next level the company was looking for a closer integration between the cutting machines and the software.

Device Manager is a truly unique feature that only Esko offers. This management tool gives us the transparency we need to make the right decisions in real time.

Robert Farfort, Director, Data Image Group, UK

The solution

Taking the manual out of the labor

Aiding to that automation is Esko’s Device Manager. It provides the truly unique feature to monitor job status in real-time as well as the ability to manage and prioritize queues for all connected devices, including Data Image’s new Kongsberg C cutting table.

The Kongsberg C is the very first multifunction super-wide digital finisher for signage, display and packaging applications that handles virtually any substrate.

The production capacity has been further expanded with the addition of a Kongsberg Robotic Cell. Robotized loading and unloading on a Kongsberg cutting table equals non-stop finishing production. Being able to automate what has predominantly been a manual process of loading and unloading materials means Data Image gains better efficiencies out of its cutting operation.

Adding the level of automation delivered by this solution, future-proofs our business.

Robert Farfort, Director, Data Image Group, UK

The benefits

Intelligent short run production

Eliminating manual steps, fast table set up, job prioritization and optimized material handling all contribute to reducing lead times, managing short production runs intelligently, cutting material waste and optimizing equipment output.

Robert Farfort, Data Image Group’s Director, believes Esko’s new automated cutting technology is the beginning of the next-revolution in digital finishing.
