Sealed Air embraces Esko’s Equinox to improve packaging efficiencies

Ghent (Belgium), May 19, 2016 – Sealed Air (SEE) is the latest forward-thinking operation to invest in Esko Equinox to streamline its print production process to enhance its business offering.

SEE was founded in 1957. Today, there are three divisions: Food Care, improving access to a safer, higher quality and more sustainable food and beverage supply chain; Product Care, resolving demanding protective and specialty packaging challenges through tailored, practical solutions; and Diversey Care, offering solutions for infection prevention, kitchen hygiene, fabric care, building care and consulting.

New market offering

Marco Rampini, Sealed Air Graphic Service Manager Europe, says, “Sealed Air, which applies ‘purposeful innovation’ as one of a core value of its approach to business, is always looking to develop innovative solutions for our flexible packaging business. We identified the possibility of creating a new market offer with a different approach to manufacturing. We found that by replacing standard spot colour print with the fixed colour palette process using Esko Equinox software, we can quickly and easily convert spot colours into predefined process tone inks at the prepress stage. This reduces the number of inks required for package printing while also improving on press efficiencies by eliminating the need for wash-ups between jobs.”

He continues, “Working with Equinox enables us to assess the printing requirements of our customers as well as to provide an effective working tool to fully match their quality demand while introducing more efficiency into the supply chain. Among the benefits this delivers the ability to offer reduced cycle time and improve the sustainability of our printing process through ink consumption optimization with no compromise in print quality. And it is a process we can use across all our markets and applications.”

Esko Vice President Europe and the Middle East (EMEA) Armand Gougay, adds, “Customers like Sealed Air are finding out just how easy Equinox is to implement and how quickly they begin saving time and cost by working with the standard or extended ink sets that best meet the needs of their end-users. Equinox allows them to make the optimal choice because it provides complete predictability in terms of colour gamut and accuracy.”

Rampini adds, “Every day, we lead with a conscious commitment to always do the right thing. We are empowered to do what it takes to deliver what we promise, and we nurture a collaborative environment that celebrates insatiable curiosity and diverse ideas. This is reflected in how we work with our suppliers, and the implementation of Equinox, which was completed successfully through our strong partnership with Esko, is another example of that commitment at work.”
