Ghent (Belgium), May 4, 2012 – Esko (www.esko.com/drupa) and GMG (www.gmgcolor.com) announced that version 5.4 of GMG ColorProof and GMG FlexoProof have the option to connect directly to the Esko Color Engine.
Color Engine is a central database of color information including library definitions for brand colors. This connection means that a customer using Esko and GMG needs to maintain only one color library, cutting down on duplicate work and reducing the chance of errors.
“Our customers prefer a single location for all their brand colors,” explains David Harris, Product Manager for Color and Proofing at Esko. “For many years, our customers have been using Color Engine to centralize color data for Esko products such as PackEdge and ArtPro, as well as standard platforms such as Adobe® Illustrator® using our DeskPack plug-ins. This cooperation with GMG means that customers can connect Color Engine to their GMG proofing RIPs to share a database of spot color ink profiles. Color Engine can contain PantoneLIVE™ definitions as well as customer made ones, and these can be shared easily throughout the customer configuration.
“We have created a simple, easy to use workflow for our customers,” says Sebastian Vorländer, Product Manager at GMG. “Files arriving at the GMG proofing software from Esko contain ink and ink book name information in XMP. Once the Color Engine option is configured, the GMG software will automatically look up color definitions on the Esko system, with no further user intervention needed.”
The Color Engine connection for GMG is available immediately and is a product option available from Esko. Interested customers should contact their usual Esko sales representative for more information. PantoneLIVE™ connectivity is available from Esko as a separate subscription based product.
The integrated solution will be demonstrated during drupa 2012 on GMG's booths in Hall 4, stand B25 and Hall 7, stand B11. For more information, visitors can also visit Esko's stand in Hall 8b, stand A23.
