CGS and Esko sign partnership agreement for Color Engine integration

May 04 2012

Gent (Belgium), May 4, 2012 – CGS Publishing Technologies International and Esko announced today that they have entered an agreement to offer users a color workflow integration for cross-fleet color consistency.

With the new option, users have access to the Color Engine database of spot color ink profiles directly from the ORIS Color Tuner // Web application providing absolute accuracy and integrity in even the most complex and demanding packaging environments. At the same time, the integration provides ORIS users direct access to PantoneLIVE™ from X-Rite Pantone.

CGS has developed an all-encompassing solution for proofing and prototyping of flexible packaging, based on RolandDG's VersaCAMM VS series, including special inks and media aimed at this application. "We are extremely pleased with this agreement, as it addresses the needs of companies involved in producing high quality for major brands worldwide, saving them time and money, and foremost, making color even more consistent and predictable. This corresponds with CGS's philosophy to not just offer a piece of software, but a total integrated solution. Users can now maintain critical spot color descriptions in just one location, making these immediately and consistently available in both high-end applications. The superior spot color handling in the award-winning ORIS Color Tuner application combined with the spot color profiles in Esko Color Engine together provide unheard of accuracy," says Heiner Müller, Key Account Director Europe at CGS. "The joint solution also provides users access to X-Rite Pantone's PantoneLIVE™ technology, which is a major step forward towards color standardization in the demanding packaging market."

“For several years, Esko customers have been using Color Engine as their central database for spot color profiles,” says David Harris, Product Manager for Color at Esko. “This integration will deliver a simple workflow, and extend the benefit of a central database to our mutual customers. It also confirms Color Engine as the solution of choice for brand color standardization in the packaging market.”

CGS will demonstrate its ground-breaking packaging solution at drupa 2012 in Hall 8b, stand A66. The Esko CGS integration will become available early in the 3rd quarter 2012. For more information, visitors can also visit Esko's stand in Hall 8b, stand A23.
